Submerged
Submerged is an in situ digital escape game for 2 to 3 players in which you interact with a mermaid AI through silhouette and object recognition.
"Lost in t the Bermuda Triangle, you have the mission to explore a sunken shipwreck. You have 10 minutes to dive and bring back an artefact belonging to a long lost civilization."

DEV TIME: March 2022 - June 2022
CONTEXT
Submerged was my master 1 project during my years studying game design at Enjmin.
The experience was built by a team of four students in three months within the confines of the Enjmin building.
The first intention was to build a room-sized installation that used technologies that allowed us to create a bridge between the physical and digital worlds with an AI at the heart of the interaction. The idea was to subvert the role of the Game Master during the course of the escape game.
The project is built around 3 intentions that guided our choices throughout the production:
-
To incite curiosity in our players
-
To produce tension between our AI, the players and their mission
-
To raise questions about the legacy of cultural looting in our museums

MORE DETAILS
I created a first timeline of the puzzles pacing our escape room and then refined them using an interative process.
We had goals that the puzzles would be completed by all of our players, that they gave some insight into the narration and were fun to solve.
The document was made easy to read and navigate.
